After a delicious Italian breakfast at our hotel, we set out to see Venice. Some of us had been here before, but for me it was the first time in Venice. We took a water bus to St. Mark’s Square and visited St. Mark’s Cathedral. It was one of the most beautiful churches I’ve seen. The mix of Renaissance and Byzantine art inside was cool to see. The ‘photo police’ were out in full force, but I managed to snag a few shots in the cathedral. Next we ducked into back alleys and slowly made our way to the famous Rialto Bridge. Along the way we ducked into side alleys, did a little shopping, and of course made several gelato stops! We stopped at a little place called Happy Pizza for lunch. Food was delicious (not just pizza!) and reasonably priced. The Rialto Bridge was really impressive, and packed with crowds from one side to the other! I found it funny how everyone was trying to shove their way to the edge to get a photo on the bridge, when the best views were actually on the bank. From the Rialto Bridge we rode the water bus for a while just to get away from the crowds for a bit, and to get some good photos as well. Unfortunately our time here was short, and in the early evening we boarded a train for Bolzano. Later!
